Getting Xdebug working in MAMP Pro

When trying to get Xdebug working on my Mac under Mamp I followed the advice of a lot blogs to uncomment the last line in your php.ini, called something like

[xdebug]
zend_extension="/Applications/MAMP/bin/php/php5.4.10/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20100525/xdebug.so“

in your „Applications/MAMP/bin/php/phpX.X.X/conf/php.ini“ and even “ /Applications/MAMP/conf/php5/php.ini.“ but Mamp wouldn’t enable Xdebug no matter what.

The solution is as simple as its obvious is nitty-clicky-mamp-land – Edit the respective php.ini in: File -> Edit Template -> PHP -> PHP 5.X.X.X php.ini, uncomment that last line about the zend_extension (meaning remove that ; at the beginning), save your changes and restart the Mamp Server. Voilá!
